about

The universe, as we know it, is infinite. A giant black stew containing pockets of violence, life, beauty, and great voids of nothing. The heat of creation caused atoms to smash together. Spewing a chain of events that eventually gave way to the creation of matter, galaxies, stars, water, and air. Through chaos life was born, we were born. Born into a world where we are challenged to contemplate our existence. Possibly coded into our DNA, we search for meaning, some rationale to everything. While this modern world races towards a state of entropy. A world of maximum chaos gets closer and closer each year. Yet we may find some type of balance or peace in studying the universe. It is said that about 90% of the universe is occupied by cosmic voids. Typically hundreds of millions of light-years in size. Cosmic voids are immense spaces between filaments, the largest-scale structures in the universe. These voids are believed to have been created by baryon acoustic oscillations in the Big Bang. Where mass had collapsed followed by implosions of the compressed baryonic matter. Is there some type of silence or peace to be found in these seemingly infinite spaces? Areas of rest? Cosmic voids are a metaphor for where we as humans can gaze intently and find harmony, like mirrors into the voids of our own soul.

Approximately two thousand five hundred years ago, the Buddha was able to realize the concept of emptiness, also called sunyata. A place devoid of form and self. Devoid of time and space. A place of being where we can ignore the outer chaos. To not acknowledge the pain and suffering of the modern world. A shield that insulates us in a space where nothingness becomes a wholeness. A transcendental enlightened state in theory. And out of this nothingness, just like the big bang sparked an entire universe, we can find creativity, concept, and new programming from nothing. Through this black void, we can find our own personal heaven.

This Black Void, a Heaven is my attempt at harnessing all the thoughts and emotions associated with this realization. Acoustic and digital oscillations representing the baryonic matter in the big bang and the void. The emptiness and juxtaposition of space and self. The sonic journey illustrates the potential. While also dealing with thoughts that are inevitable in the journey of self-discovery. Skies do collapse. Everything can fall around us as we cautiously glance over our shoulder. Yet with enough intent we can become one with the infinite, we can cast no shadow. As we become legion. Armored against suffering.

Oxidation Illinois

Oxidation is the process that destroys the CDr format over time. Unfortunately, we have started to lose several great releases because of this deterioration.

This label was started to preserve some of my favorite releases from the 90's and beyond. All releases are posted with complete permission from the artists.

Please enjoy.
